Admission Requirement(s)
There are two levels of admission into the Criminology and Security Studies Programme. These are UME and Direct Entry.
(a) UTME (Four Year Programme)
Students seeking admission to pursue the four-year programme leading to the award of a B.Sc. Degree in Criminology and Security Studies shall be admitted through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). A candidate for the Degree must Possess at least five credit passes which must include English Language, Mathematics, Government and any one social sciences subject (Economics, Commerce, Geography), and one Science, Arts and Management subject at the West African School Certificate Examinations (WASCE) or credit pass equivalents at the Ordinary Level of the General Certificate of Education (GCE), or the National Examinations Council(NECO).
(b) Direct Entry Requirements
To be admitted to the six semesters B.Sc. Degree programme, Candidate is required to possess at least one of the following:
Candidates for Direct Entry into the three-year programme must meet the requirement(s) prescribed by the University, with: a principal pass at the Advanced Level in three Social Science Subjects including Government, or an Upper Credit at the OND/Diploma in Social Works and Development, Peace and Conflict Studies, Security Management and Operations, Criminology and Security Studies, and other related fields as determined by the Department and approved by the Senate. In addition, each candidate must have a credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Government and any one social sciences subject (Economics, Commerce, Geography), and one Science, Arts and Management subject at the West African School Certificate Examinations (WASCE) or credit pass equivalents at the Ordinary Level of the General Certificate of Education (GCE), or the National Examinations Council (NECO).
