Professor & Dean
Professor Oladipupo Seun Oladejo is a seasoned academic and researcher in Civil Engineering,
specializing in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering. His professional journey
exemplifies excellence in both administrative and academic roles, having held several key
leadership positions including Acting Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, and
Chairman of numerous committees that have shaped academic policies and practices.
Born on November 18, 1972, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, he has built a distinguished career
focused on sustainable environmental solutions and advancing engineering practices. Prof.
Oladejo’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from
Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in 1998, followed by a Master of
Science and a Master of Philosophy from the University of Ibadan in 2000 and 2008,
respectively. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Water Resources and Environmental
Engineering in 2012.
Throughout his academic career, Prof. Oladejo has held numerous leadership and academic
positions. Starting as a Graduate Assistant at LAUTECH in December 1998, he rose through the
ranks to become a full Professor in October 2018. He has served as Acting Head of the
Department of Civil Engineering at Landmark University. He is the immediate past Dean of the
Faculty of Engineering and Technology at LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, where he plays a critical role
in faculty development and academic leadership. He is now the current Dean of Faculty of
Engineering, Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) , Oko Kwara State, where he is appointed to
steer the affairs of the Faculty.
Professor Oladejo's administrative acumen has been instrumental in the development of
postgraduate programs at LAUTECH and Landmark University, where he oversaw the
establishment of Master’s and Doctoral programs in Civil Engineering. His tenure as the Acting
Head at both institutions reflects his commitment to academic growth and infrastructural
development. He has served as a member of critical boards, including the University Senate,
Postgraduate Board of Study, and Appointment and Promotion Committees where he contributed
immensely to faculty and institutional advancement. His administrative contributions extend
beyond academia to impactful roles such as the Chairman of Faculty Review Panels,
Departmental NUC Accreditation Committees, and faculty lecture series committees. These roles
demonstrate his ability to steer strategic initiatives aimed at improving educational standards and
fostering collaboration within and beyond his institutions.
Prof. Oladejo’s research contributions have made significant impacts in the fields of
environmental and civil engineering. His work addresses key issues such as pollution
remediation, waste management, and sustainable energy. He has extensively studied medical
waste management in Nigerian hospitals, investigated seepage problems in earth dams, and
explored the use of locally sourced materials for environmental sustainability. His pioneering
research on phytoremediation through constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment has
positioned him as a leader in innovative environmental solutions. His efforts in promoting clean
energy are exemplified by his studies on biogas production and small-scale hydropower systems
toward enhancing sustainable practices in rural communities.
Professor Oladejo has cultivated international collaborations, notably with the Weitz Centre for
Development Studies, Rehovot, Israel, where he earned a certificate in Clean Technology, and
contributed to integrating innovative environmental solutions like constructed wetlands and
biogas production. His international impact extends through partnerships in Europe, Africa, and
Asia, with publications in journals indexed by Elsevier and Scopus among others.
Prof. Oladejo has authored numerous publications in respected national and international
journals. His work has earned accolades, including the University of Ibadan Postgraduate School
Award for scholarly articles during his Ph.D. programme. He is a registered engineer with the
Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and a corporate member of the
Nigerian Society of Engineers. His professional affiliations include membership in the
International Society for Development and Sustainability, which underscores his commitment to
sustainable development.
Prof. Oladejo is dedicated not only to research but to the broader academic and professional
community. He serves as a reviewer for several high-impact journals, including the Journal of
Environmental Management, Journal of Renewable Energy and Environment and Scientific
Africa. His role as a mentor has guided numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students,
fostering a new generation of engineers equipped to tackle global challenges.
Beyond academia, Prof. Oladejo has rendered services to his community, including leadership
roles in local and national organizations.
With a career marked by academic excellence, innovative research, and community service, Prof.
Oladipupo Seun Oladejo continues to be a respected figure in the engineering community,
inspiring future generations through his contributions to sustainable engineering practices and
environmental stewardship.
Prof. Oladipupo Seun Oladejo is happily married and blessed with wonderful children.
