Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) proudly joined the people of Oko-Irese to celebrate Professor Francisca Oladipo, who was formally installed with the prestigious chieftaincy title of Yeye Atunluse of Oko-Irese Land on Saturday, October 25, 2025, during the 20th Coronation Anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Oba Victor Oluwafemi Olawuyi (Adogunnibo I), the Oloko of Oko-Irese.

The title, which translates to “Mother Who Rebuilds or Restores,” was bestowed upon Professor Oladipo in recognition of her exceptional leadership, academic excellence, and dedication to community development. The installation ceremony, held at the Comprehensive High School of the community, was attended by distinguished guests from the academic, traditional, and political spheres.

The event began with a royal procession, followed by the arrival of dignitaries, including the Founder and Chancellor of Thomas Adewumi University, Engr. Dr. Johnson Adewumi (FNSE), the Asiwaju of Oko-Irese Land, who delivered the welcome address and opening remarks. In his speech, Dr. Adewumi lauded the Oloko of Oko-Irese for two decades of visionary leadership and expressed his joy at the honour conferred on the Vice-Chancellor, describing her as “a beacon of excellence and a builder of people and institutions.”

One of the high points of the event was the decoration of Professor Oladipo by the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, His Royal Majesty Oba Ismail Yahya Alebiosu, the Chairman of Traditional Rulers in Igbomina Land. The installation was marked by cheers and applause from attendees who witnessed the symbolic moment.

In her remarks, Professor Francisca Oladipo expressed deep gratitude to His Royal Majesty, Oba Victor Oluwafemi Olawuyi, and the entire Oko-Irese community for the honour bestowed upon her. She described the title as a call to greater service, noting that the recognition represents the bond between academia, community, and culture. “As Yeye Atunluse, I accept this honour with gratitude and a renewed commitment to fostering growth, education, and innovation that uplifts people and preserves our shared heritage,” she said.

Following the coronation, a reception and lunch party was held in her honour at the University cafeteria. The event brought together members of the university management, academic community, and guests from across the country. Among the dignitaries in attendance were Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN), Vice-Chancellor, University of Ilorin; Professor Abiodun Aibinu, Vice-Chancellor, Summit University, Offa; Professor Usman Ogbo, Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic; and Professor Mohammed Audu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Federal University, Lokoja, among other eminent dignitaries.

The atmosphere at the reception was one of joy and celebration, as guests dined, wined, and celebrated the Vice-Chancellor’s achievement together. In an appreciation message following the event, Professor Oladipo extended heartfelt thanks to all colleagues, dignitaries, and members of the Oko-Irese community who supported and celebrated with her. “The installation was an honour of a lifetime, and it would not have been possible without the distinguished presence and support of so many,” she said. “I look forward to continued collaboration and service as we work together to elevate Oko-Irese and contribute to the betterment of society.”

The historic event not only underscored the Vice-Chancellor’s remarkable leadership and impact but also reinforced Thomas Adewumi University’s commitment to community engagement, cultural preservation, and excellence in service.
