Thomas Adewumi University Oko-Irese, has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for its Postgraduate School and commencement of 27 new postgraduate programmes, following a successful resource verification exercise conducted earlier this month.
The approval was conveyed in an official letter signed by Abubakar M. Gire, Acting Director of Academic Planning (Program Accreditation), on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the NUC. According to the letter, the commission has approved the full-time mode of these programmes at the university’s main campus, with effect from the 2024/2025 academic session.
The newly approved Programmes include:
• B.Sc. Cyber Security
• PGD., Masters, M.Sc. and Ph.D. Accounting
• PGD., MBA, M.Sc. and Ph.D. Business Administration
• PGD., Masters, M.Sc. and Ph.D. Mass Communication
• PGD., M.Sc. and Ph.D. Computer Science
• Masters, M.Sc. and Ph.D. Software Engineering
• M.Sc. and Ph.D. Criminology and Security Studies
• PGD., M.Sc. and Ph.D. Economics
• M.Sc. and Ph.D. Biochemistry
• M.Sc. and Ph.D. Microbiology
Reacting to the approval, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo, commended the collective efforts of the TAU faculty, staff, and stakeholders who contributed to achieving this milestone. With the immediate commencement of these programmes, TAU is set to become a hub for advanced studies, contributing to national and global development through impactful research, innovation, and the training of highly skilled professionals.
