Following the successful completion of the Professional 2-Day Intensive Scholarship Course, Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) has initiated discussions on a strategic partnership with the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University) to expand academic collaborations in research, faculty exchange, and curriculum development.
During a high-level meeting at the Vice Chancellor’s Office with Dr. Muhammad Jamiu Mustapha, the Associate Professor of Mass Communication & Researcher in Geopolitical Communications at RUDN University, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to engaging in global academic alliances.
“We are keen on fostering institutional and individual collaborations, particularly in research and academic development. We see significant potential for joint research projects, co-authorship of scholarly papers, and collaborative grant writing. Also, we are interested in establishing student and staff exchange programs, postgraduate curriculum partnerships, and the possibility of a semester-abroad initiative," she stated.
A significant highlight of the discussions was the proposed establishment of an internet radio station for TAU’s Mass Communication Department, with long-term plans for a fully operational FM radio station. Prof. Oladipo emphasized that the university is keen on leveraging Dr. Mustapha’s expertise in developing the project to international standards, ensuring that students gain real-world experience in broadcasting and digital media.
In response, Dr. Mustapha expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that RUDN University is open to working with TAU on various academic fronts
“The prospects for collaboration are extensive. Once a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is signed, we can immediately begin exploring key areas of cooperation. I will also consult with my colleagues in Moscow to determine the best approach for structuring this partnership effectively and ensuring maximum impact," he stated.
Additionally, the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Social Studies, Dr. Owolabi, proposed integrating RUDN University’s professional courses into TAU’s Mass Communication Department curriculum, particularly through the Center for Distance and E-Learning, further broadening the scope of collaboration between both institutions.
This engagement reaffirms TAU’s dedication to building strategic international partnerships, positioning the institution as a hub for cutting-edge research and innovation. The anticipated collaboration with RUDN University is expected to open new academic frontiers, enhance faculty expertise, and provide students with expanded opportunities for professional growth and global exposure.
