Thomas Adewumi University further solidifies its reputation for academic excellence as students from the Department of Accounting and Finance record remarkable success in the recently concluded Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) examination.

Among the high-achieving students were undergraduates from both 200 and 400 levels who passed various stages of the Accounting Technicians Scheme West Africa (ATSWA), a crucial milestone toward becoming chartered accountants.

The students include:

  • Promise Peter (200 Level): Emerged as the most outstanding student, passing ATS 1, 2, and 3 all at once on her first attempt.
  • Deborah Olukomogbon (400 Level): Successfully passed all papers in ATS 1 and ATS 2.
  • Mohammed Belgore (200 Level): Passed all four papers in ATS 1.
  • Rahmat Sulaiman (400 Level): Cleared ATS 2, having previously passed ATS 1.
  • Jeremiah Obisesan (300 Level; Economics): Cleared all four papers in ATS 1.

Each ATS level consists of four rigorous papers, and the students’ performance reflects both personal discipline and the academic support structure within the university.

Speaking on the accomplishment, Dr. Olamide Olayemi, the Head of Department, commended the students for their dedication and applauded Promise Peter for her extraordinary success. “Promise has set a new precedent for excellence and determination. Her achievement is not just personal, but inspirational to her peers and the entire department,” he noted.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francisca Oladipo, also expressed her pride in the students’ success. She congratulated the candidates and extended her appreciation to the academic staff of the Department of Accounting and Finance for their unwavering commitment to student development. “These results affirm the quality of education at TAU and our vision to nurture students who will not only succeed in the classroom but also excel in professional settings,” she stated.

The university community joins in celebrating this milestone, which serves as yet another proof point of Thomas Adewumi University’s commitment to producing industry-ready graduates equipped for national and global relevance.
