Thomas Adewumi University, through the Chancellor, Engr. Dr. Johnson Bamidele Adewumi has begun to negotiate a partnership deal with Coursera to provide internationally recognized, on-demand, industry certifications, and skills.
The Founder of the private university, Engr. Dr. Johnson Bamidele Adewumi and the Partnership Director of Coursera Inc. Mr. Andy Poole, held a meeting at the Harbour Hotel in Southampton, United Kingdom on Sunday, 12th of June, 2022 to discuss the partnership deal between the two institutions.
The proposed partnership will help Thomas Adewumi University students to gain Industry credentials to boost the employability of Thomas Adewumi University graduates. In addition, it will enable the university to create a platform where its students obtain world-class training and development programs at a relatively low cost. ‘This will be the envy of Nigerian students going abroad, he added.
Coursera is a U.S.-based massive online course provider founded by Daphne Koller and Andrew Ng in 2012 with a vision of providing life-transforming learning experiences to learners around the world and has become a “global online learning platform that offers anyone, anywhere, access to online courses and degrees from leading universities and companies”.
Coursera has also partnered with more than 200 leading universities and companies across the globe to facilitate flexible, affordable, and job-relevant online learning courses, programs, and skills to individuals and organizations worldwide.
