Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) is set to celebrate a historic milestone with its first-ever convocation ceremony on November 26, 2024, where 26 graduates, including six First Class Honours, will be awarded degrees, marking the University’s rapid growth and commitment to academic excellence since its founding in 2021.
At a press briefing held at the Senate Chamber on Friday, November 22, 2024, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francisca Oladipo, expressed great pride in the accomplishments of the University. “Today, we stand at the crossroads of a major milestone. The achievements of our first graduating class are a testament to the dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence that define Thomas Adewumi University,” Professor Oladipo stated.
Since its inception, TAU has rapidly grown, offering 27 accredited programs across seven faculties, with the upcoming convocation set to honor graduates, including six First Class Honours, 14 with Second Class Upper Division, and others with various honors. “This achievement reflects the rigorous academic training and dynamic learning environment we’ve worked tirelessly to build here at TAU,” She stated.
Beyond academic success, TAU is a frontrunner in sustainability and social responsibility. “Our university is one of Nigeria’s most sustainable campuses,” Professor Oladipo emphasized. “We have integrated renewable energy solutions, such as our 214KW solar farm, and grow up to 75% of the food consumed on campus. We also pride ourselves on running over 70% of operations online to reduce our carbon footprint. Furthermore, TAU is the sole medical center serving over 62 surrounding communities, and our new physiotherapy clinic has received national recognition.”
Additionally, TAU has formed partnerships with global tech giants such as Google and IBM, fostering an environment of innovation and research. "TAU is not just a place for learning, but also a space where innovation thrives. Our students have access to cutting-edge technologies, and we have made it a priority to collaborate with top global companies," the Vice-Chancellor added.
In national rankings, “TAU has earned notable recognition, securing the 5th spot among private universities in Nigeria and 50th overall. This achievement further solidifies the university’s standing as a growing educational institution with a commitment to global excellence,” Professor Oladipo stated.
The convocation ceremony promises to be a momentous occasion, honoring the university’s academic accomplishments, sustainability efforts, and the success of its pioneering graduates. Professor Oladipo concluded, “We are not just shaping the future of our students, but also shaping the future of education in Nigeria.”
