On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, Thomas Adewumi University marked a moment of pride and reflection when it had the honor of hosting a courtesy visit from Kwara State Commissioner of Police, C.P Victor Olaiya, and his team. This visit reinforced the institution's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the University and its surrounding community.

In line with the University’s mission to foster excellence and greatness, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo proudly highlighted the University's national and international recognition as a rising force in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Innovation (STEM-i) education. She stated, “TAU ranks as the 4th best University in Kwara State, the 11th among private Universities in Nigeria, and 49th across Universities in Nigeria. With the support of the Police, we believe we can further safeguard our growing community and continue to attract positive attention.”

Prior to this, the Founder of the University, Engr. Dr. Johnson Adewumi, took the opportunity to recount the institution's history and expressed his gratitude to the guests, the University community, and other reputable institutions, including the University of Ilorin, for their support in fostering TAU's growth. He addressed the Commissioner of Police, saying, "We sincerely appreciate your visit and your continued efforts to ensure the safety of our community."

In response, C.P Victor Olaiya, congratulated the University on its outstanding achievements and pledged the continued support of the Kwara State Police Force to both the University and the Oko community. He stated, “The University’s commitment to academic excellence and its serene environment are highly commendable, and we will ensure that the peace and security of this community remain a priority."

Several notable personalities attended the visit, including the Oloko of Oko land, Oba Victor Olawuyi, and his council of High chiefs; the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, ACP Amos Bello; the Area Commander of Omu-Aran, ACP Muaz Ismail; the DPO of Omu-Aran, CSP Alagbe; the DPO of Oro Division, CSP Anjorin Babatunde; the DPO of Ijara-Isin, SP Alli; and other distinguished members of the Police Force.

The event concluded with a group photograph and a guided tour of the University campus, which included stops at the Oko Police Station and the King's Palace.
