The proprietor of Thomas Adewumi University (TAU), Dr. Johnson B.O Adewumi (FNSE) has been awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Technology by the Kwara State University (KWASU) on Friday at the 8th and 9th combined convocation of the university.
He received the honorary degree from the Vice-Chancellor of KWASU, Prof. Mustapha Mohammed Akanbi (SAN) along with other distinguished Nigerians which include; the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi, Alhaji Kamoru Yusuf, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu, and Dr. Babatunde Omotowa.
The postgraduate convocation where the honorary degrees were conferred was graced by the presence of the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman, the Governor of Bornu, Prof. (Engr.) Babagana Umara Zulum, Sheu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar El-Kanemi, the Director of World Bank, Engr. Tunji Ahmed, the Vice-Chancellor of Thomas Adewumi University, Prof Luke Ayorinde, Dr. Mrs. Gloria Adewumi; wife of the newly-inaugurated Chancellor, and other important dignitaries.
During the award ceremony, the Asiwaju of Oko, Dr. Johnson, made a clarion call to the state and private institutions to invest in the continued development of the university and the educational sector generally to help nurture youths who would be the job-creators and problem-solvers of the nation.
Engineer J.B.O Adewumi was accompanied to the occasion by royal dignitaries such as the Olomu of Omu Aran, Alofa of Ilofa, Oloko of Oko, and Oniwo of Iwo.
In addition, Dr. Johnson was also formally inaugurated as the third Chancellor of KWASU, an appointment he received by the Kwara state governor, Mallam Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman through a confirmation letter signed by the state Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo.
Dr. Johnson Adewumi has had a distinguished career in federal service for more than 12 years in the Federal Ministry of Water Resources. He is also the founder of DeCrown West Africa and Construction Products Nigeria (CPN).
