IndabaXNigeria Pre-Conference Workshop: Exploring Computing Research by Prof. Abejide Ade-Ibijola

In preparation for the highly anticipated IndabaX Nigeria conference, a pre-conference workshop took place today 8th June 2023, titled "Exploring Computing Research" with Prof. Abejide Ade-Ibijola, A professor of Artificial Intelligence and Applications, University of Johannesburg, South Africa and also the Founder & Chairman of GRIT Lab Africa.  The workshop held at TAU Virtual Lab aimed to foster opportunities, Grantsmanship and knowledge sharing among Students in the Faculty of Computing  & Applied Sciences and other interested students.

The event commenced with a welcoming address from Mr. Farounbi Samuel, Head of Local organizing committee, Following the address was the Introduction/ Biography of the Keynote speaker (Prof. Abejide Ade-Ibijola) by the Vice-Chancellor (Prof. Francisca Oladipo) and she encouraged the Students to make a good use of the workshop opportunity.  Afterwards, Prof Abejide was invited to anchor the session.  The workshop featured a series of engaging sessions led by the speaker.  The Key point of the workshop spanned a wide range, from Discipline, Capacity and Vessel to Time and Youth. He further emphasizes about Life and what the students are to fight for.  “Capacity is one thing you have to build” He advise the students. The students in turn had the opportunity to delve deep into Discipline and how to manage their time in their youth in their respective area of study and passion

The interactive nature of the workshop encouraged lively discussions, questions and answers from the students and possible opportunities to explore for themselves. The highlights of the event were Mentoring, References, Support for students and Portfolios. It also including Postgraduate Opportunities and Research grants for Students. At the end of the workshop students were given certification of Participation

The IndabaX pre-conference workshop served as a catalyst as Students left the workshop feeling inspired and equipped with a renewed passion for advancing the boundaries of computing research. The success of this workshop sets the stage for an exhilarating IndabaX conference, scheduled to take place tomorrow. The conference promises to be an immersive experience, featuring keynote speeches, panel discussions, and research paper presentations from leading researchers and practitioners in the field. With the conclusion of the pre-conference workshop, participants now eagerly await the commencement of the main IndabaX conference, ready to embrace the upcoming days filled with enlightening discussions, insightful presentations, and opportunities for networking and collaboration.
