Thomas Adewumi University has reinforced its commitment to social impact and advocacy as the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francisca Oladipo, participated in a high-level engagement on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention in Kwara State. The program, organized by the Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative, was held at the Kwara State Banquet Hall aimed at mobilizing traditional leaders and stakeholders for effective GBV prevention strategies.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, the Senior Information Officer at TAU, Mrs. Abimbola Oni, actively engaged in discussions emphasizing the urgent need for strengthened institutional responses to GBV. A key highlight of the event was the launch of an advocacy toolkit designed to enhance collaboration between government institutions and traditional leaders in addressing GBV challenges in the state.
The forum provided a platform for insightful deliberations on policy implementation, resource allocation, and the need for a multi-sectoral approach to tackling GBV. As an institution committed to education and research, TAU contributed valuable perspectives on bridging the gap between academia and policy, providing significant insights on sustainable solutions for GBV prevention.
In a show of solidarity, Thomas Adewumi University presented branded jotters to participants as a token of support for the initiative. This gesture aligns with the university’s broader mission of fostering societal change through advocacy, community engagement, and education.
TAU remains dedicated to initiatives that promote gender equity, social justice, and a safer society for all. The university will continue to lend its voice and resources to crucial programs aimed at creating a violence-free community.
