Enactus, a global non-governmental organization that improve the lives of students and supports entrepreneurial projects with social impact, held a sensitization talk at Thomas Adewumi University to promote students for social entrepreneurship.
Enactus is present in over 45 tertiary institutions in Nigeria, with the goal of empowering young people to create positive social change through entrepreneurship. The Enactus National Competition is an annual event that brings together student teams from across the country to showcase their innovative projects and compete for the chance to represent their country at the Enactus World Cup. The event was attended by students and members of staff, who were interested in learning more about Enactus. During the talk, Enactus Senior Programming Officer (Mr. Rapheal Adagbe) shared information about the organization's mission and vision, as well as details of the leadership and social entrepreneurship development program.
He further added that “this is a great opportunity for students to develop their entrepreneurial skills while making a positive impact on their personal life, immediate community and larger society. We believe that students have the potential to be change-agents in their communities. The Enactus competition provides a platform for students to develop their entrepreneurial skills and make a difference in the world." The students expressed enthusiasm for the program and asked questions about the application process and general information about the enactus program.
Enactus team member (Miss Toluwalase Oluwole) encouraged interested students to get ready for the interview immediately after the talk, "We want to support the students’ team in any way we can, and we are excited to see what kind of projects will be developed and the impact they will have on communities." she added. The sensitization meeting ended with a group photograph and the interview process began immediately for interested students.
