In a momentous ceremony held at Thomas Adewumi University, the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Francisca Onaolapo Oladipo, was formally invested as the Founding Patroness of the Word Weavers Club, the newly inaugurated student-led public speaking club established to develop eloquence, critical thinking, and leadership among students.

The investiture occurred during the official inauguration of the Word Weavers Club, a significant event that underscores the university’s commitment to fostering intellectual and extracurricular growth within its academic environment. The recognition was presented to Professor Oladipo in appreciation of her visionary leadership, unwavering support for student-driven initiatives, and dedication to empowering students through communication and scholarship.

The ceremony opened with a citation of the Vice-Chancellor’s profile, delivered by the Club President, Adeusi Majesty, a student of the Department of Languages. Majesty highlighted Professor Oladipo’s impressive academic and leadership credentials, including her current roles as the University's Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of VODAN Africa—the Value-Driven Ownership of Data and Accessibility Network.

In her remarks following the presentation of the Certificate of Investiture, Professor Oladipo expressed heartfelt gratitude to the university’s management team, staff members in attendance, and especially the Department of Languages for their initiative and commitment. “Though they are young and may not have much help, they are putting in their best efforts, and they were able to come up with this kind of innovation,” she said. She praised the department’s forward-thinking approach and pledged the university’s continued support for their initiatives.

Congratulating the newly inaugurated executive members and general members of the club, Professor Oladipo described the event as a “significant milestone in the history of Thomas Adewumi University.” She encouraged the executives to discharge their duties with diligence, urging them to lead by example, stand out in character and conduct, and uphold the values of the university.

She further assured the club of her unwavering support, including integration into major university events, co-hosting opportunities, and other forms of institutional recognition. Emphasizing the importance of a balanced university experience, the Vice-Chancellor encouraged students to participate actively in extracurricular activities, promising to support their ideas and engagement.

The investiture of Professor Oladipo as the founding patroness marks the beginning of a promising journey for the Word Weavers Club and stands as a beacon of TAU’s dedication to nurturing future leaders through innovation in public speaking and communication.
