Thomas Adewumi University successfully held the April Edition of the TAU KnowledgeX Series on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, under the theme: “Online Tools to Accelerate Your Research.” The monthly forum, aimed at fostering intellectual engagement and professional development within the University community, continues to build momentum as it delivers timely and relevant academic discourse.
The session was hosted by Coordinator of Human Capacity Development, Dr. Samuel Farohunbi, who warmly welcomed participants joining both physically and virtually. In his opening remarks, Dr. Farohunbi emphasized the consistency and relevance of the series, “From January, we have been having exciting topics that resonate deeply with academia, and today we are exploring yet another topic that resonates with all of us — online tools to accelerate your research.” he said.
He also extended a special welcome to the facilitator of the session, Ms. Gouri Gopan, who joined virtually from India. Gopan is a distinguished research scholar at the Vellore Institute of Technology, India, and the founder of Wordsmith Academic Fraternity, a platform supporting global scholars by fostering scholarly communities. She is also a coach specializing in Methodology, Performance Studies, and Indian English Literature.
Taking the virtual stage, Ms. Gopan introduced the session by stressing the importance of starting early with digital tools and the pivotal role that literature reviews play as the backbone of research. She guided participants through a comprehensive discussion on how smart tools can simplify and enhance the research process, emphasizing the value of deep-diving into related scholarly works, proper organization of academic articles, and structuring research outputs for clarity and coherence.
The highlight of the session was a hands-on workshop where Ms. Gopan demonstrated how to use several key online research tools. Participants were introduced to and practically engaged with platforms such as: Consensus App, SciSpace, ResearchRabbit, Perplexity.ai, and several others. She meticulously walked the audience through each tool, showing its functionalities, navigation steps, and how it fits into different stages of the research process.
The event was well-attended by TAU academic staff, graduating students, and external participants who joined the session virtually. The interactive session left attendees better equipped to leverage digital tools to streamline their academic research, in alignment with ethical standards and scholarly practices.
The TAU KnowledgeX Series remains a pivotal platform in the University’s commitment to intellectual excellence, collaboration, and continuous capacity development within and beyond the academic community.
