"Education remains the most powerful tool for transforming lives and societies," Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, remarked with heartfelt conviction during the commissioning of the Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, Twin Lecture Theatre at Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) West Campus on Thursday, January 24, 2025.
In her welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca O. Oladipo highlighted that the facility exemplifies TAU’s core values of environmental sustainability and waste-to-wealth, “This building was constructed with laterite blocks molded from sand within the campus”
Prof. Oladipo also lauded the honouree, Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, describing him as a beacon of excellence in the legal profession and a source of inspiration for the students. “Prof. Ali’s unwavering dedication to education, justice, and the empowerment of young minds aligns perfectly with our mission at TAU.”
“We appeal to stakeholders to collaborate with us in expanding the law library, equipping a moot court, and providing residential facilities for staff and students,” she added.
In his address, Engr. Dr. Johnson Adewumi reflected on the university's journey and its dedication to addressing educational gaps in Oko community and beyond. “We are proud of the strides TAU has made in its quest for academic excellence, and today’s commissioning represents another significant chapter in that journey,” he remarked, also acknowledging Prof. Ali’s significant role in the University’s growth. “We are grateful for Prof. Ali’s friendship and his enduring influence on our institution,” the Chancellor added.
Delivering his address titled “Grateful Heart,” the honouree, Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, expressed his profound appreciation for the recognition, noting that it came as an unexpected honor. “This gesture is particularly humbling because it's been bestowed upon me without the contribution of any monetary intervention from me,” he stated.
In a symbolic gesture of his continued support, Prof. Ali pledged to sponsor the Law Pavilion online application subscription for the Faculty of Law for the next five years, encouraging students and faculty members to utilize the facility for academic excellence and societal impact.
Following the unveiling, the guests were given a guided tour of the Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN Twin Lecture Theatre, where they explored its modern amenities designed to enhance learning and research. The event concluded with a group photograph and a networking session, marking a memorable and successful day for the university.
