In a momentous event that marked a significant milestone in the history of Thomas Adewumi University, the institution inaugurated its first Chancellor, Engr. Dr. Johnson Bamidele Olorunshola Adewumi, FNSE, DIC, Ph.D., during its maiden convocation ceremony held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024
The ceremony, held at the university’s auditorium, was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francisca Oladipo, who convened a special congregation for the Chancellor’s inauguration. In her opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor lauded the historic significance of the occasion, describing it as a testament to the university’s strides toward academic and leadership excellence.
Presenting the Chancellor-designate to the audience, Professor Oladipo described Engr. Dr. Adewumi as a distinguished Engineer, Scholar, and Community leader. She noted his pivotal role as the Founder of the university and his influence as the Asiwaju of Oko-Irese, underscoring his embodiment of the institution’s core values.
Following Engr. Dr. Adewumi outstanding citation, the Vice-Chancellor officially inaugurated him as the First Chancellor of Thomas Adewumi University. In a symbolic gesture, Dr. Adewumi was adorned with the Chancellor's ceremonial robe, marking the formal beginning of his tenure.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Adewumi expressed profound gratitude for the honor and reaffirmed his commitment to propelling the university towards global recognition and sustained excellence.
