In a bid to address the crucial issue of mental health and well-being, Thomas Adewumi University recently hosted a seminar featuring two distinguished speakers, Dr. Jumoke Oladele and Mrs. Victoria Aina, who delivered insightful presentations aimed at enlightening and empowering the University community.

Dr. Jumoke Oladele, the first guest speaker, is a seasoned scholar with a Ph.D. in Educational Research, Measurement, and Evaluation from the University of Ilorin. With a wealth of experience and numerous publications to her credit, Dr. Oladele's expertise is widely recognized both nationally and internationally. Her presentation, titled "A Comprehensive Approach to Ensuring Mental Health and Well-Being," provided a comprehensive overview of key concepts and indicators related to mental health.

Delving into intellectual, social, and personal dimensions, Dr. Oladele highlighted the importance of understanding mental health and dispelled common misconceptions. She emphasized that mental health issues can affect anyone and range from common to severe conditions. Identifying indicators for assessing mental health, Dr. Oladele outlined red flags for mental un-wellness and concluded with thought-provoking insights.

Following Dr. Oladele's illuminating presentation, Mrs. Victoria Aina, TAU's in-house speaker, took the stage to discuss the “Importance of navigating personal life and well-being”. As a registered Mid-wife, Nurse, and Nursing lecturer, Mrs. Aina brought a wealth of practical experience to her presentation. She addressed challenges faced in balancing academic and personal life, highlighting the impact of physical health and nutrition on overall well-being.

Mrs. Aina underscored the significance of seeking help and support, advising students to prioritize their health and address stress issues effectively. Offering practical strategies for maintaining mental health, she encouraged students to define priorities, set limits, and develop healthy habits for a balanced life.

The presentations by Dr. Jumoke Oladele and Mrs. Victoria Aina provided valuable insights and guidance on navigating the complexities of mental health and well-being. Their expertise and dedication to the well-being of students and staff underscored TAU's commitment to fostering a supportive and healthy academic environment.

As the seminar concluded, attendees left with newfound knowledge and a deeper understanding of the importance of prioritizing mental health in their personal and academic lives.
