To equip its graduating class of 2024 with the necessary skills and mindset for success in the real world, Thomas Adewumi University recently hosted Module IV of its Career Programme, focusing on Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The event featured two distinguished speakers who shared their insights and experiences with the students.
The first speaker, Mr. Pelumi Aribisala, Co-founder and CEO at Cato Foods, Nigeria, delivered his lecture virtually, captivating the audience with his wealth of knowledge and experience in Agro business and food-system development. A seasoned entrepreneur with over a decade of experience, Mr. Aribisala emphasized the importance of identifying opportunities and taking calculated risks in entrepreneurship. Drawing from his journey, he highlighted the significance of challenging oneself and constantly seeking self-improvement. He urged the students to recognize their skills and interests and to nurture them diligently. Furthermore, Mr. Aribisala stressed the value of mentorship in guiding aspiring entrepreneurs toward success.
The second speaker, Dr. Adekemi Dahunsi, Director of DRIPDEV, graced the event in person, diving deep into the fundamentals of Entrepreneurship, Creativity, and Innovation in the workplace. Dr. Dahunsi outlined the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs, emphasizing their role as trailblazers, innovators, and problem solvers. She underscored the vital contribution of entrepreneurship to economic development, highlighting its significance in creating jobs and driving innovation. She also delved into the various stages of the entrepreneurial process, from discovery to harvesting, and elucidated the personal traits essential for entrepreneurial success.
In addition to Entrepreneurship, Dr. Dahunsi enlightened the students on the intricacies of creativity and innovation in the workplace. She elucidated on different types of creative thinking and stages of creativity, while also exploring various forms of innovation and strategies to foster creativity within organizations. Offering valuable insights and practical tips, she equipped the students with the tools to enhance their own creativity and innovation capabilities.
