In a momentous occasion that marked a significant leap forward for academic excellence, Thomas Adewumi University proudly unveiled its new state-of-the-art Faculty of Management & Social Sciences and the Faculty of Arts &Humanities in a grand commissioning ceremony held yesterday at the West Campus.
The event brought together a distinguished gathering of key figures, including the visionary Founder/Chancellor of the University, Engr. Dr. Johnson Adewumi, esteemed Co-Founder, Dr. Mrs Gloria Adewumi, the dynamic Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Fransisca Oladipo, a member of the Board of Trustees, Emeritus Prof. L.D Edungbola,the Director of Physical Planning and Development, Engr. Lanre Ilesanmi, Dean of the Faculty, Dr. J.A Ishola, Heads of Departments, and some members of staff.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to God Almighty for the accomplishments and highlighted that one of the directives given upon assuming the role was to enhance and strengthen the institution. She underscored the school's progression from its original three faculties to its current standing with seven faculties. The Vice-Chancellor extended appreciation to the Founder, and Co-Founder, and recognized the dedicated efforts of the Physical Planning and Development department, as well as the faculty staff.
The Founder/Chancellor followed suit, expressing his excitement and vision for the future of the University. The Founder conveyed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for the swift and significant transformation that has occurred within a short timeframe. He also acknowledged the dedication of his wife and the Physical Planning and Development (PPD) department to their responsibilities. The Founder pledged to maintain a conducive working environment for the staff. Emeritus Prof. Edungbola extended gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for her unwavering commitment to turning the seemingly impossible into reality. He also commended the Director of the Physical Planning and Development department, Engr. Lanre Ilesanmi, for his commendable efforts.
Amidst the vibrant atmosphere filled with the promise of academic growth and innovation, the Founder/Chancellor of the University, a beacon of inspiration for many, took center stage. With a symbolic cutting of the tape, he officially inaugurated the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, marking a momentous step towards fostering excellence in Business, Management, and Social Sciences education.
Afterwards, Emeritus Prof. L.D Edungbola, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, carried out the symbolic ribbon-cutting for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. This action signified the University's commitment to nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and a deep appreciation for the arts. The ceremony was not only a celebration of infrastructure but also a recognition of the relentless dedication and hard work put in by the University community. The new facilities boast state-of-the-art classrooms, a cutting-edge Library, an E-Library centre, staff offices, Faculty utility room, Laboratories, and collaborative spaces designed to inspire students and faculty alike.
The Founder appreciated the Physical Planning and Development department for the wonderful work that has been put in place, and the modern architecture and innovative design elements incorporated into the new faculties, highlighting the University's commitment to providing an environment conducive to holistic education. The commissioning ceremony at Thomas Adewumi University West campus was more than just a formal opening; it was a testament to the institution's dedication to academic excellence, innovation, and holistic development.
