The Head of the Reintegration Presidential Amnesty Programme, Mr. Wilfred Musa, spearheaded a significant visit to Thomas Adewumi University yesterday. The purpose of the visit was to provide the amnesty team with a firsthand understanding of the University's facilities and offerings, with the ultimate goal of integrating students from the programme into the academic environment.
The Amnesty team, consisting of Mr. Wilfred Musa, Mrs. Chioma Ikenna-Ibeh, and Mr. Okon Anthony, was graciously welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo, and the University Management team. The interaction commenced with a welcoming meeting held at the Senate Chambers, during which the Vice-Chancellor delivered a comprehensive presentation titled "Building on a Proud Legacy." The presentation encapsulated the University's vision and mission, highlighting its focus on STEM-i education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine, and Innovations), she also talked about the diverse academic programmes spanning across seven faculties, the vocational programmes & initiatives, and TAU strategic plans.
Additionally, the presentation shed light on the University's extensive collaborative endeavors, including international partnerships, collaborations, linkages, and memberships in distinguished professional bodies. Professor Francisca underscored TAU's substantial investment in Agriculture, positioning the institution as self-sustaining. Furthermore, the Vice-Chancellor portrayed TAU as a legacy project dedicated to community development through education, with a global reach emphasized through the TAU global campus.
Following the opening meeting, the Amnesty team embarked on a guided tour of the University's facilities. The tour aimed to provide the delegation with a firsthand experience of the institution's infrastructure, academic resources, and overall environment, crucial factors in determining its suitability for accommodating students from the Reintegration Presidential Amnesty Programme. During the tour, the delegation explored the various academic buildings, cutting-edge laboratories, recreational spaces, and other key features that contribute to the vibrant learning environment at Thomas Adewumi University.
As the visit progressed, the delegation had the honor of meeting with the University's Chancellor, Engr. Dr. Johnson Adewumi provides an opportunity for a more intimate discussion about potential collaborations. The Chancellor shared insights into the institution's values and goals, paving the way for fruitful discussions on how the Reintegration Presidential Amnesty Programme could align with the University's mission. Mr. Wilfred Musa, expressing gratitude for the warm reception, acknowledged the vision of the Chancellor and expressed the amnesty team's eagerness to collaborate with Thomas Adewumi University.
