Thomas Adewumi University Receives NUC Accreditation Team for Computer Science & Software Engineering Programmes

Last week, Thomas Adewumi University welcomed the National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation team for a thorough assessment of its Computer Science and Software Engineering Programmes. The visit marked a significant milestone for the University as it strives for excellence in academic programmes and institutional standards.

The NUC Accreditation team, led by Mrs. Raymond Joyce Idio (NUC representative), Prof. Emmanuel Adagunodo (Chair of the Panel), and Prof. Amim Adamu (team member), conducted an in-depth assessment of the facilities, faculty, curriculum, and overall infrastructure supporting the Department as a whole. The team's visit is part of the NUC's commitment to ensuring the quality and relevance of academic programmes in Nigerian universities.

During the opening meeting held at the Senate Chambers, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo, lauded the incredible team sent for the accreditation exercise. She expressed the University's privilege in having Professor E.R Adagunodo as the Chair of the team. She said Prof. Adagunodo, played a pivotal role in advocating for the establishment of the Computer Science Department as a distinct entity, separate from Mathematical Science. The Vice-Chancellor highlighted the significance of this move, allowing Computer Science to stand as a course on its own, a decision that has significantly shaped the academic landscape.

Moreover, the Vice-Chancellor acknowledged Prof. Adagunodo's distinguished career as a professor of Computer Science. She praised him for his commitment to the field and noted that Professor Adagunodo has extensively contributed to the discipline. The Vice-Chancellor also specifically appreciated Prof. Amim Adamu, for his works in the field of Software Engineering, a testament to the profound impact and influence both academics have had in the field of Computer Science.

In response, Professor Adagunodo expressed gratitude to the University's management for the warm reception, hospitality, and continuous support. He acknowledged that Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) has gained significant recognition and popularity recently, being prominently featured in various mediums such as radio advertisements and social media platforms. The remark "the name TAU is everywhere" suggests widespread awareness and visibility. Furthermore, Prof. Adagunodo appreciated the collective efforts of the entire University community.
