Today 5th June, 2023, NUC Accreditation team visited the Nursing department of Thomas Adewumi University to evaluate the department's performance to ensure that the Nursing program is well established and works in compliance to NUC guidelines. The management of TAU received the NUC accreditation team led by Prof. Chiejina Nkechi, (a Professor of Nursing Science, Nnamdi Azikiwe University) alongside, Mr. Nakaka Ahmed, (the chief Accreditor Officer NUC) at an opening meeting held at the Senate Chambers.
The meeting started with an Opening prayer said by Mr. Samuel Borode, A lecturer of Nursing Science. Afterwards, The Director Academic Planning, (Dr. M.O Oduwaiye) welcomed the NUC team to the University and introduced the Management of the University Community; Pro-Chancellor (Prof. Victor Olanrewaju), member of Board of Trustees (Dr. J.T Oderinde), The Vice-Chancellor (Prof. Francisca Oladipo), Principal Officers, the Deans of Faculties and other members of staff present. In her Opening remark, the Vice-Chancellor (Prof. Francisca Oladipo) welcomed the Board and appreciated the NUC team for coming down for the exercise, she mentioned that “TAU is a STEM-i young Institution that is eager to grow. The University is ready to receive constructive feedback on Nursing program”. She further stated that “Nursing is one of our flashy Programs and the University is committed to offering high-quality education and continuous improvement in all departments”. Following the Vice-Chancellor’s remark, the Pro-Chancellor, (Prof. Olanrewaju), welcomed the NUC on behalf of the Governing Council. In his remark, he mentioned that “TAU is a home-away-from-home because we offer our students, staff and visiting guests a conducive and beautiful environment to stay”. “NUC is here to guide us, to lead us on what is right so as to train our students for a better tomorrow” he added.
The team lead, Prof. Nkechi responded by appreciating the BOT and entire University Management. She said, “this University has shown me kindness before now by constantly checking up on me even before I arrived”. She further said, “NUC Accreditation exercise is an avenue to exchange ideas and learn from each other. We will discharge our duties according to the NUC guidelines”. She ended by praying that we will scale through by God’s grace. The meeting ended with closing remarks by the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the Chancellor/Founder of the Institution (Engr. Dr. J.B.O Adewumi). He welcomed the NUC team and every member of the Faculty, He said they are always welcome to the University anytime any day they want to visit and take a look around.
