The solar farm was commissioned by the founder of Thomas Adewumi University,Oko, Kwara State, Dr. Johnson Bamidele Adewumi in company of the V.C professor K.L Ayorinde, Dean of Faculties; Professor Odebunmi and Dr J. Ishola, the Engineers in charge of the project Engr. Ilesanmi Olanrewaju, Engr. Isaac  Ajah and Engr Samuel Jimoh Adeolu, together with other members of staff of the University.

The capacity of the solar farm is about 214KW of which the university uses just about 56KW. TAU through Decrown West Africa company will also become distributor of energy to neighbouring communities, Oko Irese and Omu Aran will be the beneficiaries of this solar energy as time goes on. This is in lieu of the use of generators which emits carbon. Hence, the university is contributing to the global warming.

This is also an open door for training opportunities and also to encourage the innovation of energy-dependent ideas. Decrown W.A, our sponsor company has helped to put the solar power in place. The men who worked on the installations are newly trained and were instrumental to the establishment of the solar farm. The aim of Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) is to help establish jobs and moving on, that is our focus.

The founder then went ahead to commission the solar farm, accompanied with words of prayer.

Engr. Isaac who led the team of Engineers and technicians who worked on the installation then gave a knowledgeable brief on the present of capacity of solar energy being 120KW, he further said, the solar power inverter can dissipate power up to about 8-9 hours daily. He also mentioned the provision of an 80KW battery to back up the inverter in time of poor radiation. Engr. Ilesanmi Lanre and Engr Isaac Ajah with other Technicians went further to explain the technical operations of how the inverter functions. The ceremony was rounded off with songs of praises led by the VC prof. Luke Ayorinde and a prayer of thanksgiving led by Prof. Odebunmi.
