Thomas Adewumi University Hosts 4th Matriculation Ceremony

Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) witnessed a remarkable gathering as it hosted its 4th Matriculation Ceremony last Saturday. The prestigious event, held at the University's East Campus Auditorium, brought together a constellation of academic luminaries, dignitaries, and eager matriculating students ready to embark on their educational journey.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the University's founder and Chancellor, Engr. Dr. Johnson Adewumi, and Co-founder, Dr. Mrs. Gloria Adewumi. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo, Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Victor Olanrewaju, and His Royal Highness the Oloko of Oko Irese, Oba Victor Olawuyi, and his wife. Also in attendance were the JAMB Officials led by the Director, National Headquarters Annex, Ilorin, Mallam Habib Usman Maiyak, The University management team, Principal officers, Deans, the Guest speaker Prof. Oluwatosin Atobatele, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, Heads of Departments, staff members, and the new students.

Prof. Francisca Oladipo kicked off the ceremony with a heartfelt address, she welcomed everyone present for the occasion, emphasizing the significance of this milestone in the students' lives. She highlighted the University's rapid growth and achievements, congratulating the new students on joining one of Nigeria's fastest-growing institutions. Prof. Francisca extended a warm welcome to the Oloko of Oko Irese for his guidance and the JAMB officials for their unwavering support, as well as to the matriculation guest speaker for coming. Following her inspiring speech, she officially declared the matriculation event open.

The Matriculation Oath was then administered by the University's Registrar, Mr. Kolawole Fisoye. Deans of various faculties, including Basic Medical & Health Sciences, Law, Engineering, Nursing, Management & Social Sciences, and Computing & Applied Sciences, presented their students for enrollment, marking a significant step in their academic careers.

The ceremony's highlight was the keynote address by the guest speaker, Prof. Oluwatosin Atobatele, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Bowen University, Iwo. Prof. Atobatele, a distinguished Professor of Environmental Biology, spoke on "In Pursuit of Character and Learning: Expectations and Responsibilities." He urged the students to strive for excellence in both character and academics, emphasizing the importance of determination and ethical conduct.

The Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Victor Olanrewaju, delivered a goodwill message, congratulating the students and acknowledging the presence of esteemed guests. The Founder and Chancellor, Engr. Dr. Johnson Adewumi, expressed his joy at witnessing the occasion, advising students to take the matriculation oath seriously and make the most of their time at the University. Dr. Mrs. Gloria Adewumi, on behalf of the entire University community, appreciated Prof. Atobatele for his insightful address.

A notable highlight of the event was the launch of TAU's maiden Newspaper, the TAU Echo. This mass communication department publication marks a significant milestone in the University's history. Dr. James Ishola, the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for her support in making the Newspaper a reality. The SRC President, Comrade Adebola Agboola, launched the Newspaper on behalf of the matriculating students, followed by launches from the Founder & Co-Founder, the Board of Trustees, the Pro-Chancellor & Charman of the Governing Council, the Oloko of Oko Irese, and the Vice-Chancellor.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Registrar, Mr. Kolawole Fisoye, who expressed gratitude to all attendees for their participation. The Vice-Chancellor then declared the matriculation ceremony closed, marking the end of a memorable and inspiring event.

Thomas Adewumi University's 4th Matriculation Ceremony not only celebrated the new students but also showcased the institution's commitment to academic excellence and holistic development. The launch of TAU Echo further cemented the University's dedication to fostering a vibrant academic community.
