Thomas Adewumi University marked its maiden convocation ceremony with the commissioning and foundation laying of several key infrastructure projects, signifying the institution's commitment to excellence and growth.
The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, represented by his Deputy, Mr. Kayode Alabi, laid the foundation for the College of Medical and Health Sciences, a monumental step toward expanding the university’s academic offerings. The Deputy Governor was guided through the project’s floor plan by the Chancellor, Engr. Dr. J.B.O Adewumi, who described the structure as a vital addition to address Nigeria's healthcare and educational needs. Mr. Kayode Alabi officially laid the foundation stone, dedicating the project to the service of God and humanity.
In addition, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, represented by his Chief of Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, commissioned a newly constructed 250-student capacity hostel. This facility is a remarkable boost to the university's residential infrastructure, ensuring a conducive living environment for students to thrive academically and socially.
Similarly, the High Commissioner of Namibia to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Mr. Humphrey D. Geiseb, laid the foundation stone for the construction of an additional hostel facility. This expansion reflects the university’s vision to accommodate its growing student population while fostering diversity and inclusivity on campus.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chancellor, Engr. Dr. Adewumi, expressed gratitude to all dignitaries for their unwavering support and highlighted these infrastructural developments as integral to Thomas Adewumi University’s mission to provide world-class education.
