Another giant step has been taken as TAU inaugurates the steering committees for the establishment of two new programmes namely: Public Health and Environmental Sciences which will be domiciled in the Faculty of Basic Medical and Health Sciences. While the Faculty of Engineering will house three (3) basic Engineering programmes namely: Electrical, Civil and Chemical Engineering. This new development was revealed during the Fourth (4th) regular Senate meeting of the University, on Thursday 26th January, 2023.
In her opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof, Francisca Oladipo made it known that another historical event is about to begin in the history of Thomas Adewumi University. Welcoming the Engineering team led by Prof.Jamiu Odusote of Unilorin and the Public Health team, Prof. Elegbede of Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti. She further appreciated God for the progress the school has made within the space of two (2) years.
While presenting the two programmes at the Senate boardroom of the University, Prof.Olusegun Elegbede is of the view that the department is ready to create health professionals with strong health background and high attitude for research. He further made a promise on behalf of the committee to pursue the programme vigorously with the mind to make it a success. A member of senate, Dr. Olofinlade therefore moved the motion for the approval of the establishment of the two programmes and the motion was seconded by Dr. Folaranmi. The committee members include: Prof. Olusegun Elegbede (Chairman), Dr. Alabi Ayodele, Dr. Kayode Adewoye, Dr. Olumide Asake and Miss Felicia Jolayemi (Secretary).
Moving further, Prof.Jamiu Odusote revealed that the Faculty of Engineering is ready to house three programmes: Electrical, Civil and Chemical Engineering. In his words ‘’ Engineering is a professional programme, therefore we want our students to be groomed in Engineering practices”. He further said they are ready to create outstanding professionals and to impact their students with innovative research capabilities for job, managing global engineering enterprise.
Mr.Olabode of Computer Science, therefore, moved the motion for the inauguration of Faculty of Engineering and the motion was seconded by Mr.Anyiam . The committee members include: Pro. Odusote (Chairman), Engr (Dr) Lekan Ogunbiyi, Engr(Dr) Ganiyu Adeogun, Engr.(Dr.) Mrs. Ganiyat Salaudeen, Engr(Dr.) Muyideen Ajibola, Engr Babatunde Adewumi, Engr Tola Adewumi, Engr. Lanre Ilesanmi and Mr. Afolabi (Secretary).
