Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) recently welcomed a distinguished team from the National Universities Commission (NUC), marking a crucial phase in the institution's journey towards academic excellence. The visitation aimed to review the operational license of the university, representing a significant milestone in TAU's commitment to providing quality education.
As part of the visit, the NUC team paid homage to His Royal Highness, the Oloko of Oko Irese, which is the host community of the University, H.R.H Oba Oluwafemi Olawuyi Adogunnibo I, alongside the University’s Founder, Engr. Dr. J.B.O. Adewumi underscores the importance of community engagement in the educational process. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo, introduced the NUC team to the King and Founder, highlighting the significance of the visit in evaluating TAU's growth and progress since its establishment in 2021. Led by Mallam Haruna Ajo, Director of the Directorate of Public Affairs, along with esteemed members including Mrs. Alussa Balogun, Mr. Idris Aminu, and Mrs. Uttah Chinelo.
During the introductory session, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the institution's journey since its provisional license acquisition nearly three years ago. She emphasized the collaborative efforts between the University, the local community, and the support provided by the King. She expressed gratitude for the community's enthusiastic embrace of the University, viewing it as a significant investment and project for progress. The King's unwavering support in ensuring the safety and security of staff and students was also acknowledged.
In response, the King commended the Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor for their dedication to the institution. He expressed immense pride in Thomas Adewumi University's contributions to the community, particularly through initiatives such as the Adewumi Foundational scholarship program. He lauded the University's transformative impact on the Oko community and its global recognition, positioning Oko as one of the leading communities in Kwara State.
Additionally, the Founder, Engr. Dr. J.B.O. Adewumi reflected on his vision to harness education as a tool for community development. He expressed gratitude for the support received, attributing the institution's growth to divine providence and collaborative efforts. reiterated TAU's commitment to providing quality education and its contribution to local employment and sustainability.
