Excitement and curiosity filled the air as the primary 6 pupils of Community LGA School Olla set out on a memorable journey to Thomas Adewumi University for an eye-opening tour of the University premises. The visit was not only an educational experience for young minds but also a part of community development initiatives aimed at fostering a strong bond between the university and the local community.
The visit, saw an enthusiastic group of young minds from Olla engage in an educational tour around the university premises. The pupils, accompanied by their teachers were warmly welcomed by the Dean of Student Care Services, Dr. M. O Oduwaiye. During the tour, the pupils had the opportunity to explore various facilities and departments on campus. They visited state-of-the-art classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, the university library, and other academic spaces that showcased the university's commitment to providing a conducive learning environment.
In addition to the academic facilities, they also learned about the various extracurricular activities offered by the University, exposing them to a diverse range of talents and hobbies that Thomas Adewumi University nurtures. The tour was not only a platform for the pupils to witness the higher education experience but also an opportunity for TAU to showcase its commitment to community development.
Expressing her delight in hosting the young pupils from the local community. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo stated that, "We believe that education is not just confined within the walls of our university; it should be inclusive and reach out to every corner of society. We hope that this visit has ignited a spark of curiosity and ambition among these bright minds”. She further emphasized the importance of such collaborations with the surrounding communities, highlighting that the university's progress is intricately linked to the growth and prosperity of the people it serves. Likewise, the Headteacher of Community LGA School Olla, Mr. Adeyemi, expressed gratitude to the University for the warm reception. He highlighted the significance of exposing young minds to higher education institutions, inspiring them to pursue academic excellence and dream big for their future.
The tour concluded with heartfelt exchanges of gratitude and well wishes between the pupils, teachers, and officials from both institutions.
