In an inspiring event held at the University’s seminar/virtual lab, staff members gathered for an insightful session titled "Responsible AI for Generative Models: Designing for Responsibility." This initiative, part of the Career Launchpad Program aimed at sensitizing the staff about the critical aspects of responsible AI. The event featured distinguished guest speaker Mr. Laju Etchie and was hosted by Mr. Stephen Paul, the Head of Training and Strategy.
Mr. Stephen Paul kicked off the event by introducing the guest speaker, Laju Etchie from the Google Research team to the audience. Laju began by diving into the AI Learning Pathway: Generative AI & Responsible Tech, emphasizing the importance of equipping both University students and staff with the knowledge and skills needed to lead the future of responsible AI innovation.
He addressed the challenges faced by faculty and instructors, such as maintaining up-to-date curriculums, resource constraints, and expanding enrolment in Computer Science programs. To tackle these issues, Laju introduced the staff to the AI Learning Pathway, a cohort-based learning program that combines instructor-led and on-demand content. This comprehensive six-month program is tailored to meet the needs of both students and staff, offering significant benefits and practical skills.
Highlighting the benefits of the program, Laju emphasized the acquisition of in-demand skills and the importance of responsible innovation. He revealed that participants would have the opportunity to unlock three batches of credentials. The program is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practical application, ensuring that participants are well-equipped to thrive in the AI-driven future.
