PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy of the Department of Maternal and Child Health Nursing is hinged on the University’s philosophy which is excellence entrenched through education in order to produce men and women who shall be capable of making impact on and changing society for better through holistic health care for all and sundry regardless of ethnicity or geographical barrier.
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
- Produce an enabling environment for critical thinking necessary for Nursing Education
- Prepare the Nurses psychologically, and mentally the for discharge of excellence and professionalism in Nursing Practice
- Produce Nurses who are intellectually and clinically sound, research-oriented in client/patient care using knowledge of the nursing process in their evidence-based practices
- Produce polyvalent and astute Nurses who will be the pride of the nation
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
The admission requirements are as follows:
- Pass at Credit level in five subjects namely: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at G.C.E. (Ordinary Level), Senior Secondary School Certificate, (or NECO) obtained at not more than two sittings.
- An acceptable level at the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board Examination.
- An acceptable level in the Post-UTME examination, and/or the interview to be conducted.

Should include Use of English Language, Biology, Physics and Chemistry
REQUIREMENTS FOR DIRECT ENTRY (200 LEVEL)
Candidates for direct entry to 200 Level in BNSc. must:
Obtain acceptable passes at the IJMB, JUPEB, International Baccalaureate, SSCE and Cambridge ‘A’ Level examinations in at least three science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Human Nutrition and General Science) in a sitting and an aggregate score of not less than 12 or its equivalent. In addition to Possessing credit passes in the SSCE/O’Level/WASC examinations as stated in (A) above.
OR
Be a Registered Nurse or Midwife with five credits at Ordinary Level G.C.E. or WASC which must include English Language, Mathematics and the followings Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two sittings. Any post-basic nursing diploma is an added advantage.
OR
Have a degree in Microbiology, Biology, Physiology, Anatomy or Biochemistry at a Level not below a Second-Class Lower Division.
