Norte Dame Girls Academy, Amoyo, Kwara-state.

In commemoration of International Girls in ICT Day, the Department of Mathematical and Computing Science Female Students orchestrated a remarkable community outreach programme. Seven exceptional female students, accompanied by faculty members, embarked on a mission to Norte Dame Girls Academy in Amoyo. Their objective: is to illuminate, sensitize, and inspire young minds toward careers in STEM education.

The event commenced with Mr. Stephen Paul, TAU's Head of Training and Strategy Unit, setting the stage with his opening remarks. Emphasizing the significance of increasing female representation in the tech industry, he underscored the importance of initiatives like this outreach.

Taking center stage, the TAU students engaged with students from Norte Dame Girls Academy, unraveling the mysteries of STEM education. Through insightful discussions, they delved into the realms of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, highlighting the dynamic nature of technology and the abundant career prospects it offers. The interaction wasn't merely one-sided; the girls from Norte Dame seized the opportunity to inquire and expand their understanding of ICT.

Following the enlightening sessions, a spirited debate ensued on the topic: "Lack of Women in Tech: A Societal Issue or a Result of Personal Choices?" With three representatives on each side, the TAU students adjudicated the competition, ultimately affirming that societal factors play a pivotal role in this disparity.

A celebration followed as the winning team received accolades and prizes from Thomas Adewumi University, also the Principal of Norte Dame Girls Academy accepted a token of appreciation from TAU for accepting and being accommodating towards the programme. In her vote of thanks, she expressed gratitude for the enriching experience brought by TAU, acknowledging the profound impact it had on her students.

As the event drew to a close, a jubilant atmosphere filled the air during the photo session, capturing the essence of empowerment and collaboration. Thomas Adewumi University once again reaffirmed its commitment to fostering innovation and inclusivity, lighting the path for a future where gender equality thrives in the realm of technology.
