To enhance knowledge sharing and promote research excellence, Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) marked another significant milestone with the successful virtual hosting of the TAU KnowledgeX Series November Edition. The event featured Dr. Akanimo Odon, the Director of Africa Strategic Partnerships at Lancaster Environment Centre, Lancaster University, UK, as the facilitator for the November Edition titled “Research Mobilization and International Funding for Research Impact."

Dr. Akanimo Odon, a distinguished scholar in the field of research mobilization and international funding, delivered an enlightening presentation on Internationalization and Resource mobilization for Sustainable Research Impact- Revenue generation. He addressed strategies for securing research grants and making a meaningful impact through research projects. The webinar provided valuable insights to attendees on how to prepare, position themselves, and become ideal candidates for grant funding by addressing significant problems, forging essential connections with the right individuals and partners, and adhering to the Five P's framework: Problems, People, Partnerships/Profile, Preparation, and Practices.

Dr. Akanimo emphasized the importance of identifying critical problems in society and developing research projects aimed at solving them. He stressed the significance of collaborating with the right people and forging partnerships with institutions, organizations, and experts who share a common research vision. Building a strong professional profile, thorough preparation of grant proposals, and adopting best practices were also highlighted as essential components in securing international funding for research initiatives.

Moreover, the webinar provided insights into the practical aspects of applying for research funding from international organizations, including tips on proposal writing, project management, and successful communication with funding agencies. Towards the end of the event, Dr. Akanimo provided a practical workshop for attendees in which they all participated and learned from it to apply to their research impact.  

The event was hosted by Dr. Samuel Farohunbi, the Coordinator of Human Capacity Development at TAU, who expressed his enthusiasm for the remarkable turnout and the valuable knowledge shared during the session by Dr Akanimo Odon. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo, who doubled as the Chief Host of the event, appreciated the facilitator for the invaluable insights of his presentation. She further commended the university's commitment to fostering research excellence and innovation.

Eminent researchers and scholars from various disciplines joined the event virtually, enriching the discussion with their diverse perspectives and experiences. The webinar created a dynamic platform for participants to engage with the latest developments in research mobilization and international funding strategies.
