TAU Receives A Laudable Remark for its Outstanding Efforts in Maintaining a Sustainable and Eco-friendly Environment

The Kwara State Ministry of Environment conducted a comprehensive inspection at Thomas Adewumi University. The visit, which took place yesterday aimed to assess the university's environmental initiatives and compliance with environmental regulations and management.

The inspection team carefully evaluated various aspects of the University's environmental practices. These aspects included waste management, water conservation, green spaces, and overall environmental impact. After a thorough examination of the University's campus and facilities, the team was highly impressed with the university's dedication and commitment to environmental preservation within its premises.

Mr. Mohammed, speaking on behalf of the inspection team, commended the University's management for their collaborative approach towards environmental stewardship. He praised the institution for implementing innovative waste management strategies, including recycling programs and proper disposal methods, which have significantly reduced the ecological footprint of the campus. Additionally, the University's commitment to water conservation and efficient use of resources also received praise from the inspection team. The responsible management of water resources has not only contributed to environmental preservation but also set a positive example for the wider community. Furthermore, the presence of well-maintained green spaces and lush gardens throughout the campus demonstrated the University's efforts in promoting biodiversity and creating a conducive environment for learning and personal growth.

Reacting to the commendation, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo welcomed the team on behalf of the University community for the visit, expressing her gratitude for the recognition and emphasizing the institution's continuous dedication to sustainable practices. “For us at Thomas Adewumi University, we have full compliance with environmental sustainability.  In addition, our focus as a University is on supporting the 17 SDGs". TAU has developed programmes and initiatives toward Environmental sustainability and impact. "At TAU, we firmly believe that environmental consciousness is a crucial aspect of education. We are delighted that our efforts have been acknowledged by the Kwara State Ministry of Environment, and we will continue to strive for even greater environmental excellence". She said. 

She concluded her speech by pledging the continuous partnership saying “I don’t want this visit to end here, NUC has approved our Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health Science & Public Health so we will be happy to partner with the ministry from time to time for training, and seminars”. Likewise, the team promises to collaborate with the institution, especially in the aspect of training, SIWES, and IT programs for TAU Students.

This positive remark from the Kwara State Ministry of Environment serves as an encouragement to other institutions and organizations in the state to prioritize environmental sustainability and implement eco-friendly practices. Thomas Adewumi University's success in this regard is a testament to the positive impact that institutions can have on their communities and the environment when they prioritize environmental responsibility.
