Thomas Adewumi University Holds 2nd Matriculation Ceremony

On Saturday, 20th of August 2022, Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) held her 2nd Matriculation Ceremony at the University Auditorium in the town of Oko-irese, Kwara state, where 103 new intakes who were successful in the 2021 Computer-based Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and meet the Screening of TAU, took the University’s Matriculation oath and were fully inducted as students of the University.

On Saturday, 20th of August 2022, Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) held her 2nd Matriculation Ceremony at the University Auditorium in the town of Oko-irese, Kwara state, where 103 new intakes who were successful in the 2021 Computer-based Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and meet the Screening of TAU, took the University’s Matriculation oath and were fully inducted as students of the University.

The event was graced by important dignitaries which include the founder and Chancellor of TAU, Engr. Dr. Johnson Adewumi, the Co-founder, Dr. Mrs. Gloria Adewumi, the Pro-Chancellor and chairman of the governing council, TAU, Prof. Victor Olarewaju, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo, Guest speaker of the occasion, Prof. Sylvia Omonirume Malomo from the department of Biochemistry, University of Ilorin, Members of BOT & Governing council, a representative from Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB), management of the school, staff and students and families of the matriculants.

The event started with a procession to the venue followed by a recitation of the national anthem. The vice chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo, while giving her matriculation speech congratulate the matriculants for having been “found worthy and admitted to the various programs run by this young and promising institution”. She affirmed that Thomas Adewumi university shall give the matriculating students “a world-class education that is robust and competitive, to make you responsible and responsive citizens of the society”.

“In addition to your regular program, you shall be required to get a minimum of two industry-based certifications, to fully qualify for graduation. This will give you an edge over others in a very competitive market” she added. She concluded her speech by thanking all the guests who were present at the event especially the Guest Speaker Professor Sylvia Malomo, for honouring the University with her presence. She equally expressed her appreciation to staff and students for their contribution to the organization of the event.

The guest speaker, Prof. Sylvia Omonirume Malomo, in her address captioned “Start strong, stay focused, End strong” expressed that Thomas Adewumi University has indeed provided a “beautiful, and serene, campus environment without distractions, a conducive environment for learning, creativity, innovation, and ingenuity laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment, studios, teaching and learning environment comfortable and homely halls of residence entrepreneurial, skill acquisition and community-based experience and development programmes”.
Prof. Sylvia furthermore urged the matriculants to discover the things that can assist their study better and make them more successful as students. She recommended that the students “maintain a good academic standing and be involved in the community”. On staying steadily focused, she advised the matriculants to manage their time well and avoid social vices, drug abuse, and Exam malpractice. She admonished them to also hone their entrepreneurial skills, turn their visions into reality, and become sources of empowerment and innovation.
Other major highlights of the event included the taking of the Matriculation oath, and remarks from the founder and Chancellor of TAU, Engr. Dr. Johnson Adewumi and the Co-founder Dr. Mrs. Gloria Adewumi appreciated the matriculation Guest speaker and goodwill message by, The Pro-Chancellor and chairman of the council, TAU, Prof. Victor Olarewaju.
