Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission into the Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Software Engineering program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. General Entry Requirements:

    • Candidates must have obtained a minimum of five (5) credits in either WAEC, NECO, GCE (Ordinary Level), or its equivalents, including English Language, Mathematics, and any three subjects from the Science or Social Sciences.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree:

    • Applicants must possess a completed undergraduate degree, typically in Software Engineering or a closely related field, from an accredited institution.
  3. Academic Transcripts:

    • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended must be submitted, demonstrating a strong academic record throughout the candidate’s undergraduate studies.
  4. GPA:

    • A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) is required for eligibility for the program.
  5. Letters of Recommendation:

    • Candidates must provide three (3) letters of recommendation from professors, employers, or professionals who can speak to their academic abilities, research potential, and suitability for graduate study in Software Engineering.
  6. Statement of Purpose:

    • A written statement outlining the candidate’s academic and professional goals, research interests, and reasons for pursuing the M.Sc. in Software Engineering. This statement should provide insight into the candidate’s motivation, career objectives, and fit for the program.
  7. Qualifying Examination:

    • All candidates may be required to take a qualifying written examination. Admission will be contingent upon performance in this examination, in addition to the other application requirements.
