TAU Students Excel at CIMA National Finals, Win ₦500,000 at CGMA Business Leadership Challenge

Thomas Adewumi University has once again affirmed its growing reputation for academic excellence and global competitiveness as its students recorded an outstanding performance at the 2025 CGMA Business Leadership Challenge, organized by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

At the highly competitive final round of the national competition, held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Nigeria British Chamber of Commerce, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, Team Diamond of Thomas Adewumi University emerged as the Second Runner-Up, winning a cash prize of ₦500,000.

The competition featured over 60 teams from 10 universities across Nigeria, making TAU’s achievement a remarkable feat. At the end of the final contest, Baze University clinched the overall winner’s position, Covenant University emerged as the First Runner-Up, while Thomas Adewumi University proudly secured the Second Runner-Up position.

Team Diamond’s success followed an impressive journey through the competition stages. The team had earlier emerged victorious at the University Round, before defeating Landmark University at the Regional Round, earning their place at the national finals.

Team Diamond members are:

  • Okonkwo Chiamakah – 200 Level, Department of Accounting and Finance

  • Belgore Muhammad – 300 Level, Department of Accounting and Finance

  • Olukotun Enoch – 300 Level, Department of Business Administration

  • Obisesan Jeremiah – 400 Level, Department of Economics

The CGMA Business Leadership Challenge is a prestigious international competition designed to test students’ strategic thinking, business acumen, leadership skills, and real-world problem-solving abilities within a simulated business environment.

Reacting to the achievement, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo commended the students for their dedication, resilience, and exemplary performance, describing the feat as a reflection of TAU’s commitment to producing industry-ready graduates with strong professional and leadership competencies.

The success also underscores the impact of TAU’s recent strategic partnership with CIMA, which continues to open global opportunities for students through professional exposure, certifications, and international competitions.
