Two Senior Advocates of Nigeria Enrich University Library with Multi-Million Naira Resources

Thomas Adewumi University has recorded another landmark achievement in strengthening its academic resources as two of Nigeria’s most respected legal scholars and Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) donated extensive collections of law books to the Faculty of Law Library.

The donors, Professor Wahab Egbewole, SAN, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and a respected authority in Nigerian jurisprudence, and Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, renowned legal practitioner, Professor of Law Practice, and Principal Partner of Ghalib Chambers, made the donations in support of TAU’s growing Faculty of Law. The collections, valued in millions of naira, comprise authoritative texts across diverse legal disciplines, including constitutional law, commercial law, international law, and legal practice.

The donations mark a strengthening of TAU’s commitment to providing world-class legal education and fostering an environment conducive to research, scholarship, and professional excellence.

In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francisca Oladipo, expressed deep appreciation to the distinguished donors, describing the gesture as both "transformative contributions that will profoundly impact the academic experience of our law students and strengthen our Faculty of Law's capacity to produce world-class legal practitioners."
"These donations from two of Nigeria's most distinguished legal minds represent more than books on shelves," Professor Oladipo stated. "They represent a vote of confidence in TAU's vision for excellence in legal education and a bridge connecting our students to the accumulated wisdom of Nigeria's finest legal scholars."
Both donors are celebrated not only for their academic excellence but also for their distinguished careers as Senior Advocates of Nigeria, the highest professional recognition for legal practitioners in the country. Their combined contributions reflect a shared dedication to nurturing the next generation of Nigerian legal professionals.

We are immensely grateful to Professor Egbewole, who has consistently stood as a strong pillar of support to our university since its inception. His latest contribution reinforces his unwavering commitment to the institution’s academic growth, mentorship, and strategic advancement. Similarly, Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, who delivered TAU’s inaugural public lecture on “Decolonising African Education to Empower the Next Generation” continues to demonstrate his support for educational development through philanthropy. His contributions, consistent with the mission of the Yusuf Olaolu Ali Foundation, further align with his dedication to nurturing young legal scholars across Nigeria.

The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Profeesor Olugbenga Oke-Samuel, noted that the donated collections will be catalogued and made accessible to students, faculty, and researchers, boosting the faculty’s growing reputation and enriching its scholarly infrastructure. The donations come at a pivotal moment as TAU prepares for its second convocation ceremony scheduled for November 26, 2025. They also reinforce the university’s momentum in strengthening its academic environment and expanding opportunities for student learning and research.

Thomas Adewumi University extends profound gratitude to Professors Egbewole and Ali for their generosity and their continued investment in the future of legal education in Nigeria. Their contributions will provide lasting value, shaping generations of students who will draw from these rich resources as they prepare to contribute meaningfully to the legal profession.
