In a landmark moment for creative expression and literary achievement, the Department of Languages, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Thomas Adewumi University (TAU), officially launched its first student-authored book titled "A Journey into Becoming" during the University’s 5th Matriculation Ceremony.

The anthology, written by the pioneer 100-level students of the department for the 2024/2025 academic session, marks the first publication of its kind in the institution’s history. Described as a powerful chronicle of transformation, the collection reflects the intellectual and emotional journeys of its contributors, covering themes of identity, healing, truth, self-discovery, and personal growth.

In his opening remarks, the Head of Department, Mr. Adelokun Adetunji Oluwapelumi, read the preface of the book to the audience, describing the anthology as more than a mere compilation of poems, it is a curated tapestry of young voices navigating the complexities of early university life “‘A Journey into Becoming’ constitutes far more than a mere assemblage of student poetry; it is a carefully curated chronicle of personal and intellectual evolution,” the preface read.

Under Mr. Adelokun’s academic mentorship, students were guided through creative writing workshops where poetry became a tool for critical introspection, emotional articulation, and authentic expression. The result is a compelling mosaic of poems that range from deeply vulnerable to boldly assertive, collectively offering readers insight into the minds of a rising generation of thinkers and storytellers.

The book was formally unveiled by the Founder and Chancellor, Engr. Dr. Johnson B. O.
