Thomas Adewumi University hosted the inaugural edition of its Inter-Faculty Quiz Competition on May 23, 2025 at the University Auditorium, East Campus. Organized by the TAU Career Centre, the event brought together participants from all seven faculties of the institution, reinforcing the university’s commitment to promoting knowledge-sharing, intellectual engagement, and healthy academic competition.
The preliminary stage of the competition spanned six rigorous rounds, with questions drawn from diverse academic fields. At the end of the first stage, the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Computing and Applied Sciences led with 95 points each, closely followed by the Faculty of Nursing Sciences with 90 points and the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences with 80 points. The Faculties of Engineering and Law garnered 45 and 40 points respectively.
The grand finale featured a fast-paced round focused on space and astronomy, world organizations, social media trends, and notable Nigerian scholars. With only one minute allotted to respond to ten questions for a maximum of 500 points, the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences secured first place with 350 points. The Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences finished second with 250 points, while the Faculties of Computing and Applied Sciences and Nursing Sciences scored 150 and 100 points respectively to place third and fourth.
Speaking during the event, Professor Clement Kiire, a Consultant Gastroenterologist based in Manchester, United Kingdom, and visiting professor to TAU’s College of Medical and Health Sciences, commended the university’s dedication to promoting innovation and academic excellence. “TAU is not just a teaching institution but a place where students are equipped to become innovators and producers of ideas. I am proud to support its growth and confident it will emerge as a leading university in Nigeria, Africa, and beyond,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo, appreciated Dr. Samuel Farohunbi, the organizer of the event, and all faculty teams who contributed to the success of the competition. She encouraged the students to remain focused on their academic pursuits and resist any form of distraction that may derail their progress.
