In a landmark moment in its history, Thomas Adewumi University successfully hosted the first-ever Vice-Chancellor’s Cup (Interfaculty) Games, bringing together seven faculties for an exhilarating week-long celebration of talent, teamwork, and true sportsmanship.
Held from May 10 to May 17, 2025, at the iconic San Mamés Stadium (TAU Sports Arena), the inaugural sporting event featured a total of eight competitive games, including Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Scrabble, Chess, Athletics, Swimming, and Table Tennis.
Speaking at the grand finale, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo, praised the students outstanding performance, noting that the tournament reflects TAU’s vision of raising well-rounded leaders who embody excellence both in and out of the classroom.
The success of the maiden edition sets a remarkable precedent for what is poised to become one of the university’s most anticipated annual events, and reinforcing TAU’s position as a forward-thinking, student-centered institution.
Sporting Highlights
• The Faculty of Management and Social Sciences claimed victories in the 100m (Female) and 200m (Male) races, and emerged as the overall winner in the track events.
• The Faculty of Engineering clinched gold in the 100m (Male) category.
• The Faculty of Nursing Sciences topped the Marathon with 90 points.
• The Faculty of Computing and Applied Sciences dominated in Scrabble, Chess, and Basketball.
• Volleyball and Football were secured by the Faculty of Basic Medical Science.
