The eighth edition of the annual Information Communication Technology and Telecommunication (ICTEL) EXPO 2022, themed 'Effective Digital Infrastructure Pivotal To Nigeria's Economic Growth, is organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce has commenced on the 31st August 2022 at the Muson Centre Onikan, Lagos. The Chancellor, Engr. (Dr.) J.B.O Adewumi and the Vice-chancellor, Professor Francisca O. Oladipo were in attendance. The 2-day event which commenced yesterday, 31st August 2022, was purposely targeted at the digital economy, as this is considered the single most important driver of innovation, competitiveness, and growth.

The eighth edition of the annual Information Communication Technology and Telecommunication (ICTEL) EXPO 2022, themed ‘Effective Digital Infrastructure Pivotal To Nigeria’s Economic Growth, is organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce has commenced on the 31st August 2022 at the Muson Centre Onikan, Lagos. The Chancellor, Engr. (Dr.) J.B.O Adewumi and the Vice-chancellor, Professor Francisca O. Oladipo were in attendance. The 2-day event which commenced yesterday, 31st August 2022, was purposely targeted at the digital economy, as this is considered the single most important driver of innovation, competitiveness, and growth.

The President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Asiwaju Dr. Michael Olawale-Cole emphasized that this year’s edition of ICTEL EXPO 2022 is deliberately focusing on the digital economy, as the digital economy undoubtedly, enables and supports various businesses, social and government activities through electronic commerce, lifestyle apps for easier living, and e-platforms, respectively. Hence the need to focus on building a strong digital infrastructure and having follow-up technics for the actualization of the strategies already been proposed. This event is also aimed at taking stock of how far we’ve come as a nation and how much still needs to be done.

The Vice-Chancellor Professor Oladipo who was one of the keynote speakers at this year’s ICTEL EXPO 2022, established the relevance of technology in the educational sector. How technology intervened during the pandemic and the need to embrace it into our school’s curriculum as a country, as there has a huge gap in the transfer of knowledge and education to students on digital literacy and skills in our tertiary institutions.

She went on to share how TAU has been able to incorporate digital skills acquisition into her curriculum, in line with the NUC regulation that has allowed tertiary institutions to build 30% of their curriculum, by partnering with Coursera, and Microsoft (through the Microsoft emerging academy) to ensure our students are certified digitally amongst other achievements of Thomas Adewumi University.

Also, in attendance were captains of industries and directors of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
