1. RESEARCH INTERESTS AND ACTIVITIES

1(a) My area of special interest in research is Heterogeneous and Homogeneous Catalysis. This involves reaction studies in the liquid phase, gas-liquid and gas-solid catalytic reaction systems of

• the kinetics and mechanisms of catalytic processes,
• synthesis and characterization of catalysts,
• the structure-activity relationship of catalysts, and
• photo-catalysis and enzyme catalysis.

(b)  Physico-chemical characterization, cracking and conversion of Industrial Raw materials such as Coal, Crude oils, Bitumen, Petroleum Products, etc

(c)  Investigation of various natural and chemically modified Clays for chemisorption of heavy metals, dyes and remediation of industrial effluents.

• Catalytic hydrodeoxygenation of phenols including interactions between catalytic hydrodeoxygenation, hydrodesulphurization and hydrodenitrogenation reactions.
• Fischer-Tropsch synthesis catalyzed by metal-oxide supported Osmium complexes.
• Metal-oxide supported Osmium catalyzed hydrogenation of olefins and hydrogenolysis of alkanes and cycloalkanes.
• Steady state kinetics modeling of ethane and n-butane hydrogenolysis on Osmium catalysts.
• Deactivation of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis and hydrocarbon conversion osmium catalysts.
• Kinetics and mechanisms of catalytic oxidation of sugars and sugar alcohols by metal ions and organometallic complexes in acidic and alkaline media.
• Thermal and catalytic degradation of Bitumen.
