On-campus jobs for serious-minded students, says TAU founder; Dr. J.B.O Adewumi.

Dr. Johnson Bamidele Adewumi addressed the students of Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) at the auditorium in the early hours of Wednesday, 4th of May, 2022. This event marked the final presentation for the official orientation program for the 2021/2022 academic session. Students and staff members of the university were in attendance.

Dr. Adewumi, in his presentation, spoke about his early childhood and career achievements. He mentioned how he moved from academia into the business sector. Engr. Adewumi did not just point out the successful businesses he ventured into, which cut across; hydropower, irrigation, and construction, but also pointed out a few failed businesses he invested in and co-founded. This was to encourage the students never to give up while trying to achieve their goals, even if they encounter failure at some point.

The founder and his wife Dr. (Mrs) Gloria Adewumi, invested in education to impact lives as he rightly believes education is a social responsibility. They’d successfully founded institutions that cater to all forms of formal education, from elementary to secondary and the newest tertiary institution. He stated that the goal of establishing TAU is to be an institution of innovation, where graduates become certified, well knowledgeable in their field of studies, and also earn an additional technical /entrepreneurial diploma training and certification.

He emphasized that the responsibilities of TAU students include; staying focused and studious, living and co-existing peacefully with one another, and they are also required to have some additional certifications and training before graduation. These pieces of training will kick start soon as the university will collaborate with some national and international bodies in this regard. These include;

(i)              Microsoft certifications.
(ii)            Diploma in vocational courses at TAU technical and vocational center.
(iii)           Huawei certifications for students in computing and applied sciences.
(iv)           60 hours of certified community service.

Dr. J.B.O then announced his remarkable plan to make available 10 hours of on-campus jobs for serious-minded students. Students who meet up with the criteria for these jobs, based on their academic performances will be paid accordingly after rendering their services. The founder rounded off by admonishing the students to be studious, focused, and resilient, as their successes will be the reward of his labor together with his wife.
